Waiatoto River Safari – West Coast NZ
Discover one of Kiwi’s favourite tours on the West Coast NZ, taking a jet boat up a remote backcountry river into Haast UNESCO World Heritage Area. The jet boat is comfortable and the only form of transport available here to take you into the Southern Alps up the Waiatoto River. This tour is suitable for infants through to their grandparents and it is about the journey and what you experience. We have a removable roof for when it rains. The happiest people tell us that the best tours are in the rain, as it adds to the atmosphere and creates dramatic scenery.
At the top, an optional stroll is available with stunning photography opportunities, then it is a speedy trip back downriver to the Tasman sea, finishing off with a visit to the breeding grounds of the famous West Coast New Zealand Whitebait fishery and to spot some native birds.
